Boker - Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards

boker1.jpgOne of the founding members of Poodles of Doom, Jon "Boker" Gould provides most of the lead vocals and alternates between guitar and keyboards.

A gigging musician for most of his adult life, Boker has an energetic and uncompromising approach to his guitar and keyboard playing.  Whilst not a trained singer by any stretch of the imagination he injects the appropriate level of emotion and humour into his vocals.

Jon lists Leslie West, John McLaughlin,Jim McCarty (Cactus), Wilko Johnson, Jan Akkerman, Frank Zappa, Johnny Winter, Wayne Kramer, Mick Green, Rory Gallagher, Robin Trower, Zal Cleminson, Steve Hillage, Alvin Lee and Pete Townshend amongst his favourite guitarists.boker2.jpg

Favourite keyboardists include Graham Bond, Brian Auger, Hugh Banton, Larry Young, Gregg Rollie, Dave Stewart, Brian Miller, George Duke and Frank Wilson.

Peter Hammill, Terry Reid, Alex Harvey, Jack Bruce, Roger Chapman, Edgar Broughton, Captain Beefheart and Joe Cocker are singers that Boker admires but will never emulate!

Boker is a fanatical fan of HIWATT amps and often uses them for keyboards as well as guitar.  His current axe of choice is an Epiphone Wilshire with Catswhisker mini humbuckers fitted.  He uses a Nord Stage and a Roland VK8m for keyboard sounds.
